Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from the changing space?
We have a designated changing shepherds hut to change and leave your belongings in.... or if you prefer, you can change at your cars. The Sauna has a small room as you enter, separated by a door, providing privacy and a heat trap for the sauna room, as well as an area for you to leave your robes, valuables etc. Please note all our experiences include time for changing. If you'd like to use the changing room towards the end of your session, please be mindful of the next booking and do this within your booked time slot.
  • What time should I arrive before my session?
Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your booked sauna slot to allow time for briefing. Changing times (5 mins) are included in your booking; arriving late will shorten the duration of your experience.
  • How can I contact you?
Submit your questions on our contact page and we will get back to you or text 07775568596. Note, we are very busy with enquiries, so please allow us time to respond.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
To cancel or reschedule your booking, please send us a message via the contact page or text only on 07775568596 with your booking details and preferred option for refund or credit in the email subject line. Cancellation times for refunds or credit 48 hrs notice: Full refund or transfer 24 hrs notice: Transfer only (no refunds) Private bookings: one week's notice We regret that we can't give a refund or credit if it's less than 24 hrs notice. We do not refund ‘no shows’. The Fallen Willow and The Woodland Sauna operators reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated persons or for other reasons that may be deemed a health and safety risk. Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.
  • What should I bring with me?
You'll need swimwear, a water bottle and two towels; one to sit on in the sauna, and one to dry with. For winter months, we advise warm clothing to change back into after sauna and swim/cold water plunge or shower.
  • Where can I leave my belongings?
We advise bringing minimal personal belongings with you. You will be able to leave your belongings in the changing areas at your own risk.
  • Who can use the sauna?
If you are pregnant or have any underlying health problems, please seek advice from your doctor before booking. Listen to your body, take lots of breaks, and keep hydrated. Anyone under the age of 18 using the sauna must be accompanied by an adult. We regret that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the sauna. Remember to sign our waiver form before arriving for your session.
  • Where can I park?
There is a designated parking area next to the Sauna. You will be given full details upon booking.
  • Are there any toilet facilities?
There are currently no designated toilet facilities at The Fallen Willow Sauna; the nearest toilet is at Black Chalk Winery (www.blackchalkwine.co.uk) where you can enjoy a tasty refreshment before or after your sauna. The Woodland Sauna has a compost toilet on-site.
  • How does the 65-minute Sauna Experience work?
Recommended for those looking to gain the full benefits of the woodfired sauna, for up to 6-8 people. Using the sauna is not just about relaxing and gaining all the benefits of contrast therapy (hot & cold), but also about enjoying conversation within nature. For a 65-minute experience, you'll have ample time to change, and to fully immerse in the experience, both in and out of the sauna.
  • Can I put water on the stove?
For an authentic experience, customers can manage the 'löyly' (the steam that rises from the sauna stove), allowing control of humidity and intensity. Adding water over the rocks humidifies the session and is one of the best aspects of a woodfired sauna. However, please remember not to dump water on the rocks; instead, gently drizzle water on with a ladle intermittently, until the heat reaches an appropriate level. We ask that you don't put wood in the burner, this will be done for you.
  • Can I use the sauna after my swimming lesson with Test Valley Open Water Swimming?
A quick warm-up is offered after a swim to those booked with Iain Derrick from Test Valley Open Water Swimming. If booking a full 60 minute sauna with your swim, use your discount code when booking the sauna. Please contact Iain Derrick at testvalleyswimming@gmail.com to book your swimming lesson.
